Antietam Resurfaces

Maybe this happens to you too. Something random happens to you and then suddenly, out of the blue, 2 or 3 or 4 more things connected to that one thing happen shortly after.

Here’s an example: As far as I know, before a month ago, I never, in my life, heard the word ‘Antietam’. As detailed in my previous blog, my wife and I and some friends took a day trip to the Antietam Battlefield last month while vacationing in the area. This past Friday my wife was at the hair salon and out of the blue someone says: “There’s this General that was injured at Antietam…” Antietam is not an everyday topic of conversation and is nowhere near as common as, say, Gettysburg in this area. So when someone starts talking about it, and we just visited there a month ago, it’s a pretty unique connection.

To make the connection even more interesting is the subject of the conversation about Antietam. The reason that Antietam came up in conversation is because a woman was in the hair salon earlier in the day with a book that her husband has written. It turns out that her husband Jeffrey Keene, is strongly convinced that he is the reincarnation of General John B. Gordon who fought for the Confederacy during the U.S. Civil War and was injured during the Battle of Antietam. Jeffrey Keene has written a book,”Someone Else’s Yesterday“, chronicling his unusual discovery and the evidence of his past life identity. I was handed the book while in the salon and was quickly engrossed in the story. When it was time to leave I had difficulty putting the book down. It is a fascinating story and very well written, I’m hoping to be able to purchase a copy from the author so that I can continue. You can read a synopsis of Jeffrey Keene’s past life identity case here. And check out the video from the TV show “Proof Positive”

I don’t know if it’s just coincidence or if I’m more keyed in to noticing, or if it’s a true “connection” of some sort, but I find these ‘connections’ fascinating. And in the case of Jeffrey Keene, when he did the research he revealed that those random coincidences might not have been so random after all.

No, it’s not a coincidence. If you believed in the Law of Attraction, you would know that you brought those things to you.

For example — I was obsessed with the commercial where there are little-kid drawings flying around a city. The song that was being sung during this commercial was driving me crazy and I had no idea where it came from. Well, shortly after seeing this commercial I had a call one Saturday morning from my son – and your brother – asking me if I wanted to catch a movie with my grandson at Criterion Cinemas in New Haven later that morning. So, I went to see Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and lo and behold there was Gene Wilder singing the song ‘Pure Imagination’! There was no reason in the world for this to happen. I didn’t know the song, heard it in the commercial, and wondered where it came from. A few weeks later, I’m in the movie theater with my grandson seeing a movie I would never have chosen to see on my own (one I didn’t even know was playing at the theater) and, voila! the mystery of the song was solved! You don’t know how I felt in the theater when he started to sing that song. I wanted to stand up and tell everyone…I don’t know what… but something! I was amazed that this happened … and still am.

I think in a lot of mysterious ways, we are more alike than we may understand. So, a lot of seemingly weird coincidences may occur and, they may be directly related to your life, and/or they may be just coincidence because we are all human and sharing this ‘small world’ so naturally coincidences will occur. In this mans case, I think, when you want or believe something to be true for whatever reason, even if subconsciously, you will remember selective memories or opinions on experiences in order to make everything fit into your box of perception. I’ve had it happen to me on a big level, and I’ve done it a few times myself on a much smaller scale, with relationships. The similairites between the two men are certainly striking, and undeniable. What I’d like to know is what is he going to do now with this knowledge? Otherwise, it’s a moot point to prove he’s the generals reincarnation.
I believe in reincarnation, and I think it has to do with karma. I think everything that your soul did or didnt quite learn in a past life is now presented again with these same issues in the present. I definately feel like I’ve lived before. More so, I felt it when I was younger. I felt older than I was, I inherently knew thigns about life that other people my age didn’t. Maybe I was involved with music in a past life, as my mother and family have told me, I started dancing and singing “opera” for guests on top of a table starting when i was 3. I don’t remember that. But, far as i can recall, I’ve loved music and arts, dancing, theater, etc. I just felt like I already knew it. The queston of “who was i?” doesnt really concern me, tbh. Listen to your instinct about your experiences and feelings, and in time, your soul will move on.
Sorry for the long meander but I suggest you research Antietam, or any of the surrounding battles during the civil war. If something comes up again, without you pressuring it, it could be directly related to you. Good luck, and as always, I’ve enjoyed reading your blogs. 🙂
btw i got my hair done on friday too. fuschia/pink and blonde highlights. it’s funky.
